    Raw Reliability

The Frost River Guarantee: These mitts and choppers are tough. But if you wear ‘em like they’re work gloves, expect that they will eventually wear out. We guarantee all our reliable softgoods to hold together, that the hardware will do its job, but don’t mistake that for a claim they’ll last forever. We stand behind our work and take pride in making good stuff. However, if you use anything made from canvas and leather long enough and hard enough, you’ll need to eventually repair it, and sometimes replace it. When that time comes, we hope you choose to replace it with another Frost River item. What’s the guarantee on mittens? We’ll cover that the seams will hold, the elastic will stay in place, and on the Great Northern Choppers the brass clasp will last and work as long as the mitts hold together. Other than that, repairs for holes, rope-tows chewing through, or dogs discovering the deliciousness of your mitts etc. would fall under the “repair at a reasonable rate” clause if they're still repairable.

You sent the wrong ones I called and someone said that they would send the correct size and a return voucher have not heard anything so I do not know if they are shipped or not. I would appreciate knowing.

Northern Pacific Mittens-Buckskin

I purchased these mittens to replace a pair of leather mittens that I lost years ago. The quality and feel of these mittens is truly first class. Due to an unusually warm and wet start to our winter here in the Oregon Cascades, I haven't had a chance to wear them, but I'm hopeful. I can tell, by trying them on that they'll be super warm and water resistant. I typically wear a large glove
, but ordered these in a medium, after using the size chart. I've found that I should have ordered a size small which would make them more nimble.

Inconsistent Sizing

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved these mittens. I originally purchased a pair last winter in size Medium, even after checking the size guide. The Mediums were too large, so I sold them to my friend at the amount I would have gotten had I returned them, and I ended up buying them in Small and they fit perfectly and were super warm.

Fast forward to this fall, I ended up losing one of my mittens at a sporting event, so I went to repurchase them in Small, because I loved them so much. Unfortunately, the Small pair I received this time around was significantly larger than the Small pair I received last year and did not fit me, as they were much too large (like the Medium size I received last year). Understanding they are handmade, I would expect slight variation in sizing, but Customer Service informed me this was normal and was not a quality issue. I would've tried to exchange them, but never heard back from Customer Service, so I ended up returning them instead.

Like I said at the beginning, the mittens are amazing, especially living in Minnesota, but I would not advise purchasing them online (maybe go to their store instead if you're in Duluth) as the sizing is inconsistent and Customer Service wasn't as helpful as I have experience with other companies I frequent.

Fantastic mittens, just what we were looking for.

My husbands old mittens were falling apart, but he could not find replacements that HE wanted. These are perfect and he is very happy with them. Thanks so much
