The crossover design works great for an outdoor lifestyle that requires travel luggage, trips across town for meetings, as well as a backpack for hauling adventure gear out and back again. Description

Convertible between backpack, luggage, and briefcase, the stowable backstraps tuck out of the way for carrying with the sturdy web handles or optional web shoulder strap, yet they’re ready in moment when you need your hands free. Just break out the contoured, padded backstraps and use the bag as a pack. A pair of D-rings are there to add a shoulder strap (not included) for even more options. The trio of possibilities creates a veritable “hat trick” of carry options! Plenty of pockets inside and out offer compartments to keep your stuff where it belongs. The large zip pocket on the front sports an organizing panel inside for keeping travel documents, gadgets, and a newspaper or magazine ready in a flash. Inside, a full length padded zip sleeve offers a spot for a laptop. Our new XP Snap Grid is compatible with our XP Accessory Bags, providing storage for smaller objects in a pocket sized to your liking. The grid lets you add the optional Accessory Bags in backpack or briefcase orientation. The heavy duty full zipper hugs the back of the pack to allow easy access to the padded sleeve whether in pack or brief mode. The #10 zipper goes three quarters of the way around the bag allowing it to open almost flat so you can easily get to or pack your gear. Waxed canvas construction keeps the weather out, sheds dirt, debris, and stains, and will last for years. We build them and guarantee ‘em, in Duluth, Minnesota. Voyageur Backpacks come in two sizes, and both are carry on compliant for airline travel. The Backpack Brief is a little smaller, the Backpack Luggage, a little larger. Available in Heritage Black as well as Field Tan, the Voyageur Brief lets you choose which environment to blend in with, and which you'd like to carry with you.

Flippin' Excellent

This bag fit what I was looking for perfectly: being made of natural materials as much as possible, being durable, being made domestically, and not having an excess of straps dangling about everywhere. I absolutely love that the straps quickly un-buckle and can be stowed away, that was hugely helpful when traveling via plane, and just for generally being out of the way. I haven't seen it in heavy rain, but it had no trouble with the light rain I was in. One concern for heavy rain is that the pouch that stores the straps is open up top, so I wonder if that would collect water. I can't vouch either way, but it's one consideration. Another is that while it's a beautifully large and open main compartment, it's possible for things to move around, so I recommend something on the order of pack cubes or organizers. At least this way the user has the option to use as much or little organization as they want. Overall, I love this pack, it's designed and made extremely well, and I hope for it to be my main luggage for decades!

Love it

This bag has exceeded my expectations. I was torn between the brief and the luggage version of this bag, and ended up going with the luggage as I travel with a fair amount of stuff. The bag has room for my bulky laptop, the oversized charger, my portfolio folder, clothes, random accessories, and still has a great amount of room that it never feels cramped. The zippers on this bag are great - they are heavy duty and I have no worries about them ever breaking. The bag looks amazing and is super comfortable to wear as a backpack. Definitely worth the money.

Just right

It’s been a journey to find the right all purpose bag. I wanted something that would be just right for work and travel. This pack fits needs for both. Perfect for my lunch and some beverages and other work supplies and will fit the bill for weekend travel with the clamshell opening. The only, and very minor criticism is that sometimes things fall out of the small organizer pockets in the large outer pocket of carried as a backpack. This would not happen if in a crossbody or briefcase carry. Workmanship is top notch.

Unbelievably Pleased

When I say I did a ton of research on the bags I was about to buy, that's a major understatement. I read reviews, watched videos and asked real people their takes on bags for weeks one end. My wife was starting to think I'd lost my mind. I've recently subscribed to the buy it for life philosophy where possible and this seemed like a great way to do it. I was shopping for a bulletproof duffle bag and backpack for work/fun trips. I travel about half the year for work recently plus I'm a rather large fella so I needed something tough and spacious. I finally decided on the voyageur backpack and the laurentian luggage duffle. They're both absolutely incredible. They look great on the website but when you actually hold them in your hands you feel how tough the waxed canvas is, how chunky and sturdy the zippers are and also how spacious they are. I've already travelled twice with them since my purchase and they look the same as when I opened the box they came in.

My only complaint if I had one was the organization in the voyageur. I bought it primarily as a backpack so I find the strap in the front pouch doesn't hold things very well. Were I to use it as a briefcase instead I'm sure they would be great but it is a bit strange that a bag touted as being able to be carried 3 ways isn't a bit more thoughtful with it's organization when in one of the advertised carry modes.

Beyond that both are incredible pieces that I can imagine myself owning for years to come. 9.5/10

Great product - Highly recommend

Really like that this luggage will be appreciated by me as well as my heirs - it is incredibly well made and tough. I spent a month in Hungary and Scotland and this is the only luggage i took with me. I was concerned it would be too large for some smaller air carriers, but it was well accepted and even fit under the seat in aisle seats. Although i bought the shoulder strap, I ended up not using it, but always the backpack straps which came in handy when having to run through two airports for considerable distance. Thanks for a great product and now shopping for a handbag.
