Frost River Waxed Canvas Drover Hat

I need a hat when I go in the woods. Period. Not only to shade intense sunshine and shed torrential downpours of rain, but more importantly to fend off branches on the trail which could take an eye out. You know, just that dip of your head and the whippy limbs glance off the hat brim. Cobwebs, too!
My go to hat for the past few years had been a famous brand made in Canada, once used by the Royal Mounted Canadian Police. They, however good that hat was, have started manufacturing many of their items overseas. They also don't seem to be targeting outdoorsmen as they once had, moving more towards the fashion trend. But this is not about them. Only to say that my standard is high and I am comparing to the best and most time tested hat on the market.

When I saw the Frost River Drover hat on social media, I knew I had to have it. And even though the price is very reasonable, I live in Italy now, so the shipping and the import taxes ended up doubling the price of the hat. No matter. I had to try it.

When it arrived I only expressed one word: WOW.
Durable waxed canvas. Perfect shape. Perfect fit. Abusable/crushable. It was better than even my high expectations!! And it looks great! I usually add some type of a hat band to personalize my hats, but the Drover comes with a wonderful braided leather band that doesn't need replacing. It also includes a heavy duty adjustable cord for cinching up under your chin on windy conditions.
I've not had it out in a rain storm yet, but it's made from the same heavy duty waxed canvas material as my Isle Royale, Westender Waist pack, Arrowhead ECO, and 4 other Frost River products that I am fortunate enough to own, so I have no doubt that raindrops will roll off it like water off a Loon's back.

I honestly can't say enough about it. All I can say is "Thank you" to Frost River for offering what has become my newest and best hiking/camping/bushcraft companion. THANK YOU.
