      Raw Reliability

Roaming the North Country in search of Iron Ore can lead an intrepid young geologist into all sorts of adventure. James Byron Hustad was known as J.B.H. had explored Minnesota’s Iron Range in search of underground deposits for U.S. Steel in the middle of the last century. Equipped with his trusty “rucksack” he would often travel by canoe or float plane into secluded roadless areas. Our Geologist Daypack is modeled after the pack that J.B.H. carried on many of his explorations in the U.S. and Canada, Brazil and Africa. He often basecamped for weeks during the summer, and was sometimes dropped off to explore uncharted claims. He lived a life of exploration, self reliance, and survival that any adventurer could envy.

    excellent quality

this is made to be beat on and take it.this pack is not for everybody. if you drive around your neighborhood looking for hoa violations in your subaru before picking up your vegan pizza . you might want to look for a different pack

    Poor design

The front pockets are definitely quick release and a pain to get strapped back, called Frost River and asked if I could get buckles on instead of the brass tabs. They said they wasn't licensed to alter the bag. So you make the bag in Duluth but you can't put a buckle instead of a tab?

    My go to bag

I ordered my Geologist Pack from Frost River. Wanted a nice looking but practical bag. I scanned a few sites but on visiting Frost River, I didn't go any further, they had all the bags I wanted. Its a comfortable fit, as long as its not too full and heavy, I plan to get some extra shoulder straps to fix that. Its big enough for everything I need and it never feels bulky and it squashes down nice when I've only a few things to put in it. Its my go to bag, work, travel, dog walking. and the odd supper market run. Its a great looking bag, versatile and strong, It probably wont get the action and adventure it was made for, but it will always be ready. Thanks Frost River for my great bag.
