    Raw Reliability

Roaming the North Country in search of Iron Ore can lead an intrepid young geologist into all sorts of adventure. James Byron Hustad was known as J.B.H. had explored Minnesota’s Iron Range in search of underground deposits for U.S. Steel in the middle of the last century. Equipped with his trusty “rucksack” he would often travel by canoe or float plane into secluded roadless areas. Our Geologist Daypack is modeled after the pack that J.B.H. carried on many of his explorations in the U.S. and Canada, Brazil and Africa. He often basecamped for weeks during the summer, and was sometimes dropped off to explore uncharted claims. He lived a life of exploration, self reliance, and survival that any adventurer could envy.

Geologist pack and several other packs and sweatshirts

I have only the highest praise for all in all categories. That must get tiresome hearing. So to really nitpick it would be my zip up sweatshirt. The pockets are too small even for my hands let alone items without losing them on trail or around camp. But, I still love it!

Geologist Pack - Awesome

Just purchased the geologist pack and am impressed with the quality of the build. I do field archaeology and am confident this will hold up well to rough conditions. Have taken it on a few outings thus far and love it. The only constructive criticism I have is to consider offering the shoulder strap upgrades on this one. The shoulder straps are quality leather and quite durable, but a little uncomfortable at first--until they ultimately get broken in. Again, really pleased with this and feel I made a good choice here.

Geologist pack

This is my third pack from Frost River. And a handful of other stuff from you. Your workmanship is just a pleasure to see, using it is a joy! I know this gear holds up because I come close to “abuse” rathet than use. You are true artists! I tell everyone to buy a Frost River Pack!

Great pack !

I got this pack because I destroyed my North Face day pack and wanted something more robust for archaeological survey. This pack fits the bill and has incredible craftsmanship. I will be buying from Frost River again.

Geologists pack!

Just an absolutely amazing piece of gear to use at both work and for personal carrying too! Despite the compact appearance it opens out amazingly and can easily carry a rather heavy load without wincing at all! Colours and design are, of course, very high quality too, and the ease of use is also very good! Great bag for everyday work!
