Like the fine Lake Huron Tote I already had, the > 2X-pricier Temperence Tote is a manageable medium size but possesses 3 attractive features it does not: 1. A zippered main compartment, the obvious benefit being security of contents; 2. Two adjustable leather straps--to each of which I added extra shoulder pads left over from replacement buckskin ones on other FR bags--allow easy conversion from hand- to shoulder-bag. I usually keep them at their longest for shoulder carry, enabling me to simultaneously grasp the bottom with same-side hand to readily maneuver the bag in & out cars & such; 3. A sturdy bottom constructed not of 2 layers of waxed canvas but even-better 1 of canvas inside & another of leather outside. Further, two full-width exterior pockets--a front zipper & rear open slip--provide handy storage options. The 1 full-width interior open slip pocket needs a snap to keep it out of the way when loading the main compartment. Also, the base should be an inch or 2 wider, not so much for extra room but rather to prevent the tote from being somewhat side-to-side tippy. I added a FR luggage tag, as I do all its bags, & use this 2nd-most-expensive tote in its line-up almost every day.
Frost Rivers products are exceptionally high quality. The sales associates are friendly and very helpful. We visit the store whenever we are in Duluth.
This bag is just what I was looking for; rugged, sturdy, beautiful and functional.
I love this for my daily commute. It fits my umbrella, a book and what I need for the day. Great pockets for work badge, bus card etc...I also use it for travel. The simple sophistication of this bag gets me several positive comments.
